CETM
Success story : Tina Mancini

When Tina Mancini first came to CETM five years ago, she had some training in opera, but little practical experience.  Since then, she has participated in a number of our initiatives, developing her skills in a much broader range of activity.  Her work with CETM's outdoor street show helped her increase her collaborative as well as technical skills, making her a far more well-rounded performer.

By the time Tina won our annual Le Spotlight competition in 2010, she was clearly putting her training into practice.  Her acting skills have grown substantially, and her musical abilities have broadened to include many more styles.

With the support of CETM, Tina was admitted to New York's prestigious Circle in the Square training program.  She also just celebrated her Off-Broadway debut in October 2011 as part of a CETM-sponsored project.

Tina is just one example of the positive effect that CETM has had on the professional development of a growing number of Montreal-based artists.

Participant testimonials

As a chorus member of this year’s musical « The Brain from planet X », having just closed the show, I wanted to write you a letter of thanks and appreciation.

The artistic selection of this year’s festival was wonderful. Many friends commented on the quality of the performers and the diversity of the shows, another strong testament to your vision.

As is the case with many visionary projects (The Jazz Festival, Just for Laught, etc.) it will just be a matter of time until the English community realizes the unique opportunity wa have with this Festival and fully embrace your vision. Until then, I wish you continued success in the future! Wishing you a great 5th anniversary season ahead…

With Warm Regards,

Peter E.H. Palmer

I am a professional actor and singer in Montreal. In the summer of 2010, I performed in Daisy and the Wonder Weeds, produced by CETM, and this summer I’m singing in a cast recording of the same production. My experience with the CETM has been amazing, they are providing a service that is almost unheard of in Montreal, and are valuable members of our community. I hope to see them continue to grow! Because we all want to see and participate in more high quality musical theatre productions, and with more frequency too!

Warm regards,

Aaron Janke

After having been involved with CETM for the past year, I am moved to express my gratitude and deep appreciation for all that which CETM stands: a center, providing education for the budding artist in addition to the recognition and support of professional performers.

I am particularly appreciative that CETM provides one of the few spaces where French and English speakers can collaborate and perform plays and musicals in both languages! Not only that, but audience members enjoy watching both versions. This is wonderful! More and more, I see English speakers improving their proficiency in French as a sign of reverence to Montreal’s strong cultural roots.

As theatre certainly stimulates cultural growth, I have particularly respected the integrity of this company. Thank you for ensuring that the integrity of this company shines through in every production I’ve participated in and enjoyed as an audience member.

My hope is that CETM can become more firmly recognized as a valuable asset to both French and English communities of Montreal in order to encourage further cultural growth through the arts.

Speaking of growth, I have also particularly appreciative of the Next Wave Musical Festival. My experience with Daisy and the Wonder Weeds was particularly unique because we played a integral role in the development of an original musical production and learned a lot in the process of production. This experience has been especially valuable to me, and to the development of my career.

I write this letter as a gesture of gratitude and with the intention that you regard this document as a testament to the value of CETM and the enriching effects it has within the community of Montreal at large.

With many thanks,

Molly McGivern
